My Personal Philosophy of Education Education is the key to a successful and fulfilling life. The purpose is to give each child an equal opportunity to achieve his or her goals. I believe that the overall purpose of education is to prepare for the future. Education is so important to one’s life that educators cannot merely teach in one manner. To truly teach someone you must dig until you find a way for him or her to completely understand. That’s why I think that teaching is going to be a great challenge everyday. As a teacher I will have a whole classroom full of individuals with different learning styles, different strengths and weaknesses, different attitudes, different lifestyles, and different motivations. Because of†¦show more content†¦After one skill is mastered, a risk is taken in trying to learn another one. As skills are mastered, however, confidence is gained. If a child is not encouraged to take risks and never allowed the opportunity to progress, confidence will be lost and the child will become hesitant and unsure, perhaps even lose the desire to try. I hope to instill in my students that education is a lifelong learning process, and that education empowers and provides life-altering opportunities. I believe all children are born with an overwhelming desire to learn and this desire must be nurtured and encouraged with love, enthusiasm, and discipline. I am a firm believer in making learning fun and interesting, while maintaining discipline. A disciplined, well-behaved classroom is the key to accomplishing tasks and goals. Although I will strive to maintain the discipline, I want the students to pay attention to me out of respect, not fear. I do not believe in yelling or embarrassing students. However, I do want them to understand the importance of following rules and the importance of proper behavior. My desire to teach comes from a more meaningful desire to learn. Each child I meet will teach me something new and we will learn from each other. The way to reach a child intellectually is through the heart.
